Of Sundays and Mornings

As per usual it was quite a challenge for me to make this picture. Make no mistake, nothing is more simple then to rez an object, shoot it, and post-process the photo to show the object of in the best possible way. Or no post-processing at all if you prefer that. One could argue that most of my post-processing is over the top, but I digress.

The challenge was not so much in shooting the best possible angle, light, etc to showcase the object but the real challenge was to capture the mood. This chair, the whole release from Nutmeg, Dreamy Pastels available at Shiny Shabby, brought to mind wide-open spaces, with natural colors, comfy chairs, and sofa’s and not unneeded clutter. Airy and light.

I love making darker pictures, both in color and in black&white. But sometimes I perse want to make a light picture and perhaps I should not be so stubborn. Perhaps I should stay in my lane and do what I am really good at, but you know what? Life gets extremely dull if we only do what we are really good at and I never was good at ‘staying in my lane’. I prefer to ignore the lanes, especially when it comes to creativity and trying to relay a mood, a vibe.

But have no fear, darker-toned pictures are coming soon enough my dear stalkers and 3.5 readers, just keep your eyes peeled. But with all the craziness going on in this world at this point in time, I figured air and light are not a bad thing. But once more I digress.

I also wanted to perse use the poses that come with the furniture. Textures and quality are a given from this designer and more often then not we pick our decor items for that reason alone. Looks. But… This wee baby packs a punch.

The pose you see in the picture is not edited nor adjusted. And I can tell you there are many more poses that are just as good. I can also tell you that the adult poses are absolutely spot on. On a personal note, I do so enjoy bento in poses and seeing a hand and fingers actually curl around certain bodyparts when and if warranted instead of seeing these static hands. And these poses have it all. So if you are considering new furniture, do yourself a favor and check out Nutmeg because most of their furniture is jampacked with great poses.

I am also wearing a dress, and true to form, you can hardly see it. However, it is a new Mainstore release from RKKN.

All items are, in my not so humble opinion, very much worth a test drive. Clickety click on the links and off you go. Well look at me, a proper blog post again, I should seriously work on that or I run the risk of becoming boring. Stay safe and sane.

Of Close-ups and Distance

While for some the stay-at-home period seems to bring along amazing creativity, I find myself struggling to even put a simple, healthy meal together, let alone being creative. It’s rather surprising as I am a hermit by choice and very much not a social butterfly.

Perhaps I am just a contrarian. Let’s stick with that. It has a nice ring to it.

Now onward to the task at hand, some ramblings about the picture:

I am in LOVE with the new Lelutka heads. Absolutely and unequivocally in love. What I love most is the option to mature your skin with the simple push of a button. And I use it with gusto. What also is a great thing is that the Axis hud still works. It has so many possibilities that for now I only have pursed my pretty little lips a bit.

So one more time; I LOVE the new Lelutka heads. There.

What I also love is BoM. I am sporting the basic Ana Skin from Clef de Peau, one of my favorite base skins to start a look with. Now, most of my looks are pretty much the same, I tweak a bit and pinch a bit there but in essence, my shapes stay the same. But BoM allows us to add so many details. Here I am only wearing 6 layers, base skin, eyebrows, tattoo, red circles, eyebags and as the piece de resistance the scar in the mouth corner.

It is of course from TF, Bordello.  Tristan has treated the grid with stunning art and more recent nifty little add ons for body and face. And it is those details in my opinion that make a face interesting. Personally, I am partial to this little gem because I find it utterly intriguing.

I will keep this short because storms are moving in, and more urgent my shoulders are still not up to par. They are, for all you 3,5 readers, better but only because I rest them.

For me, it’s back to resting, stay safe, sane and healthy.

Of Ramshackle-ness’

One of the reasons I have not been rambling is because instead of having a nifty, handy-dandy ‘write’ button on the top of my screen, WordPress decided to hide it and now I have to traverse half the internet to find it.

The other reason is, my bursitis is back in full swing and with a vengeance. Both my shoulders are in full protest of any movement and guess what? You HAVE to keep moving them. Long story, won’t bother you with the details but trust me when I say it’s painful and tiresome. (try wiping your butt with two defective shoulders, I know TMI but sod it).

Then, of course, there is this thingie-ma-poo, the Bat-Shit-Crazy-Flu as I like to call it, and it is the personification of the ‘monster under the bed’ when I was a little girl. It is scary as can be.  Luckily, I have time in abundance to worry, because typing and even pointing and clicking with a mouse is only possible in very short bursts.

Anywayyyy, today I figured I would take a picture and a ramble a bit. Not perse about what you see in the pic, I have to guard my reputation as a bad blogger after all but more some musings. A healthy dose of Spinach so to speak.

So, how are you all? Safe and healthy I hope? Armed with enough supplies to occupy and distract your mind,  soothe your soul and general well-being.? Please do take care of yourselves and your loved ones and do not forget that lonely neighbor next door or across the street. A wave, a smile, simply recognizing another human being can go a long, long way.

Also, don’t forget to don your homemade hazmat gear when and if you need to go out. My outfit is truly ridiculous. In the absence of well, everything I suppose, I am using my cleaning gloves, you know those big fat rubber ones? Well, mine are bright purple. They go amazingly well with my safety goggles (orange bits and pieces on those) and scarf (lime green) that I tie around the lower part of my face. The gents and ladies at my friendly neighborhood Walmart almost piss themselves laughing when I get in and my husband stays in the car. Oh well. At least I make people laugh.

Shopping is now a dress-up party and exercise in agility.

As always this picture has a story. I started out in dressing up as a latex-fetish-robotic-augmented-freak and ended up with what you see. As always pose and light set the mood for me and while I do love my ‘freaks’, I also love the more down to earth shots. And let’s be honest, down to earth is good right now.

Since my shoulders now really feel as if they are being stabbed with red hot pokers it is time to call it a night. A quick shopping list:

Hair – .Shi // Top – Erratic// Pants – RKKN // Ink – Vegas Tattoo // Pubes – TF // Pose – Del May  (deleted <<– name of pose).

Of Pleasure of the Moment

174 1a

This tattoo caught my eye the moment I saw it. I can only dream of having it in real life, but I do have it in my second life. Now as per usual, my post-processing madness only gives you a hint of how good this ink really is. If you would like a better look you could visit the designers Flickr page, or you can hop over to Tialli- The Fair Around the World! and drool all over the vendor or better yet, be brave and grab it.

What came as an utter surprise to me, is that the Maitreya body has been updated and version 5.1. is, amongst other updates and novelties, BoM ready. Just a FYI.

The skin I am wearing is obviously NOT available in this available tone (post-processing alert and all that) but it is my second all-time favorite Clef de Peau.Ana Nature [LELUTKA] Applier. Obviously, I am using the Strange Eyebrows option, something I have been wanting to do for ages. Ages indeed as this skin is a year old (or thereabouts)  but it works perfectly with the new Lelutka line and comes in BoM and applier in one neat little buy. Your pain is to decide what color to pick. Personally, I have it in natural and milk.

I do love BoM, I have said it before because once again it gives me the freedom to wear as many or as few layers as I please which allows me to mess up the ol’ toon spectacularly. And I am very good at that. And it makes that the once again the ‘secret’ to a great look is in the shape (as a good friend has taught me) and the layers you plaster on it. But.. you can also go au naturel and probably look better then I do with all my BoM-ming. Here’s your ride, should you want to give it a go,  Clef de Peau mainstore

The pose is from SAPA available at the Cyber Fair and with that last little tit-bit of information, I would like to take the opportunity to say: Please stay safe, healthy and sane in this mad mad world and spread love and joy, not germs and viruses.

Of This and That

The upside of being away from SL for a short while is that when you come back, there are so many new things and a brand new Flickr riot!

It seems Flickr is doubling down on their rule that you can not promote commercial activities on a free account. From a business point of view that makes sense to me and I for one will not go around finding creators or bloggers on other media. The simple solution is to not put links up but simply tell people where to get the goodies. Personally, I don’t see the drama since I believe we will see that more and more platforms will double down on this.

The logical solution would be that someone starts up all the SL-feeds again. Honestly, I have no clue if they are still around. We will wait with bated breath and until then, Flickr -with-no-links.

Since I love to confuse the fuck out of you all, I figured I would once more use a different featured image on the old blog.

And with good reason. Or at least I think it’s a good reason, as one of the new things I found was this skin from Clef de Peau. Full disclosure; Since my first ramblings about this creator, I have indeed become part of the blogger team and proud to be. Proud because I honestly think Clef de Peau is among the very few skin-designers who deliver a constant quality. Skins for me are about quality but also about tones. Some skins are too orange-hued or have a distinct reddish glow. Clef de Peau has, for me, hit the mark on toning.

This release, Mia, for Lelutka Power Pack Feb. 2020 is geared for the new Lelutka heads, Lelutka Evolution. I am sporting the Toast tone but it comes in all tones. I am very eager to show off the Pearl as well since I am a huge fan of pale skins. Check out Marco’s Flickr for more information and completely different styling.

As for the picture I put up on Flickr, I am wearing the new RKKN release, Mae available at Kustom9. Another ‘Jeans-Slam-Dunk’ from RKKN I think. The sweater is going to go a long way as I can easily see it paired with shorts during those summer evenings on the beach or a bit of shopping.

Last but not least, I want to draw your attention to the pose. It’s from Del May and they have a bunch of new poses out at their Mainstore.

Well, I have to go so I will leave you here, a proper blog-post and I don’t want to spoil it by rambling on ^^.

Of Portraits and Vision

It is known, to steal a catchphrase, that I love to fiddle with pictures. The results are varying but they all have one thing in common, the time spends ‘fiddling’ usually yields an effect I like.

It is also a way to mask flaws that the photographed object might have. Touch up a bit here, touch up a bit there and voila, a perfect picture.

The picture you see here has not been touched up. It has been resized, the neckline has been blurred as I was not wearing a body when I shot this and the left border has been added. That is as they say it. Taken in Firestorm, ultra settings and a neutral WL with no shadows. Now, my sweet 3.5 readers, you might wonder why would I do this?

Personally, I think the simplest pictures are the absolute most difficult to frame. You have nowhere to hide. Regardless of what you shoot, if you go for simple, minimalistic there is no way to hide. What you see is what you get.

So lets for a  moment pretend you are so floored by this face that you want to ‘get it’. You would have to get your be-hind over to Clef de Peau and grab the Bianca skin. It is my favorite from this designer.

The lipgloss is part of the deal as are the freckles and tadaaaa it is BoM. For those already the proud owners of this skin (and others), please hit the re-delivery terminal at the store and you will find BoM-layers in your package, sitting quite cosey right next to the applier for those who are not (yet) convinced to go BoM.

I am wearing the new Lelutka head, Nova 1.0, which in my not so humble opinion is absolutely freaking stunning. The hair base is from .Shi and currently at Uber is the most insane hair available. Insanely good that is.

I will leave it at this, go see for yourself by visiting Clef de Peau Mainstore, Uber and Lelutka.

Of Quiet Time and Not so Quiet Time

It has been a while, hasn’t it, especially for the few Spinach junkies amongst you. I do apologize for that, but life has been wonderfully hectic once more, which tends to happen when you decide pretty much out of the blue to adopt a puppy.

They set up these ‘adopt a pet day’ round these parts and of course, sucker as I am, I had to pick one up. Sold. End of story.

Of course, I forgot completely about the housetraining part. I guess the ‘he’s 3 months old’ should have been a warning to that. Good grief. Don’t get me wrong, the critter is here to stay, but trundling around with him a gazillion times per day does take a bit of time. And seriously his face is just it. He has the most insane eyebrows on a dog, ever. If I get a half-decent photograph of him one of these days, I’ll share. Right now his baby doggy pictures are mostly parts of his tail, bits of the tummy, a few legs, and my other dog photobombing the shot. All adorable, but no eyebrows. To be continued.

On top of that, I repeated my ‘let’s drop your phone into the toilet’ action which created yet more hecticness to my already full days since it took a bit to get everything sorted again. In many ways, I miss my trusted paper organizer but I must say that ‘the Baroness B’ (yes that is the name of my new phone) is a marvel of technology and nifty little apps that help a lot to create order in the wonderful chaos that is my life. Plus, I have now actually backed up all settings, contacts and other things for the first time ever. I almost feel modern. Almost.

Tonight I did enjoy a few quiet moments in SL, sitting on the dock of Zero, one of them anyway and I want to take the opportunity to thank everybody who visited. I am honestly surprised at the number of visitors since I didn’t advertise so double thank you for those who did come by. It is more appreciated then you can imagine. As you know, this build was never meant for the public but an effort to estimate the amount of prims needed for our new home sim. Zero will close in the next few days if for no other reason than I need the house and my beloved outdoor bathtub.

So I took the time to enjoy some peace and quiet, fiddle with my look a bit more and for the fashion freaks amongst you, the outfit is from RKKN. Cate’s Sweater is available at Uber and the Nicole jeans at the RKKN main store where you also can find a demo for the sweater and the leather pants that are part of this release. Worth the trip!

Now I am going on a trip too, a short one, to my bed.

Of Procrastinating and BoM

Grass planting is a f*cking bore. All of you, yes, you three, who will grace my home with a visit when I hold my ‘open house’, better be on your best behavior and praise each bloody grass patch individually.

I find it so utterly boring and dull that while I was busy doing it, I often paused and explored BoM. Baked on Mesh. I am in love. I am absolutely in love and while this shot is just the first step into it, I expect many many more. Once more having the freedom to slap on as many layers as you wish, is such a relief.

The only things I regret now more than ever, are my inventory mishaps. I once took it upon myself to box up everything I was no longer using on a very regular basis. In my case, I packed up everything as I usually run around in jeans and a sweater. So, I packed up everything in neat boxes and then in a moment of utter insanity, threw them all out. By accident, I might add. Oh well. Better to have loved and lost than not have loved at all, n’est pas?

My new favorite store is Eleven because be honest, these eyebrows and moles are freaking awesome. As is the zombie eye, which btw is a group gift. Just so you know. I can not wait to see more and more new style system layers becoming available and create a more unique look once more. Preferably as flawed as can be.

Anywhoooo, this did not really help the sim building, a build that never was meant to be opened for the public but I will show off my grass planting skills. Or lack thereof. Eye of the beholder and all that.

The truly fucked up thing is that every single time I almost finish a build, I am so inspired. It is as if the building muses are leading a conga-line along the edges of my sim, firing idea after idea towards me. And this time, I am grateful for it, as I have learned from my past mistakes. I am now taking notes! And not only that but lists and lists of items I would need to use to create the builds that are now swirling in my head.

However, none of these builds will probably be of any interest to the masses. Unless you are a grass-fetishist. Put it in your calendars and sometime next week I will open Zero again for a very, very brief time so you can all gawk at the grass or perhaps simply enjoy a stroll.

I wish you good day kind readers, all 3 of you and thank you for your visit.

Of Defiance and Challenges

Fact: I will not be the best in this challenge.

The end.

How’s that for short and sweet huh? Here’s another fact: I am shy as f*ck when it comes to my pictures let alone take part in a challenge, competition, be invited for an exposition or the worst of all: asked to do commercial shoots.

I clamp up like a 35-year-old virgin on her wedding night. Seriously, all creativity, moxie and whatever else usually make a picture work for me, flees. Not just fleeing, as in a somewhat graceful and orderly retreat. No, no, no. A wild stampede, with drool and spit flying, bawling, howling and screeching in sheer terror because there is an actual brief.

There, the cat is out of the bag. I told you one day I’d tell the horrifying story of why I quit blogging and why I am so reluctant to accept new commissions to blog. It’s not that I do not want to. It is that it takes so much time for me to do it, because of my ‘angst’.

Can you believe that? Well, you better believe it. Anywhoo, so why this challenge? Why then ‘put myself out there’?  Because I firmly believe that if you allow fear to rule your life, you have no life. So here it goes. Oh and because the WL’s from Jay are lifesavers.

Crappy landscape? Uninspired layout? Ugly buildings or trees? No problem. A windlight (WL for the in-crowd) is like make-up for a scene. it changes everything and while it is possible to make your own, I leave it to the professionals.

Jay Tedder Murs is one such professional. Not only that, he is always been nice to me, when I bothered him with yet another noob question, and that goes a long, long way with yours truly.

On top of that, rummaging through my inventory tonight looking for a specific sofa, I came across this dress I bought a few weeks ago. Yes, in my inventory that makes perfect sense and what better way to test out a few new (for me at least) wl’s then with a pretty frock on? Stop.. don’t say it…

There are tons of better ways, no doubt, but you know what? Tonight, at this time in this place, this is my way. Inspired, by a frock, a pose (no longer available sadly) by the brilliant Tab Tatham who should in my not so humble opinion put her poses up for sale again, and spectacular sunsets.
