Of Looks and Looking

The new Lelutka heads are, in my not so humble opinion, the best heads ever. Fleur is an absolute hit and those lips are simply devine! Ryn and Raven… well where to start? With the downsides perhaps for a change.

Lelutka does not allow to go batshit crazy with your head. The sliders are throttled, or however you call it, and that makes that you have to very creative and daring to create the face you want. I went ahead and bought a shape as I always end up looking the same and I am trying very hard not to tweak it too much, as I am still getting used to this new-ish me.

With that said there are only positives. The quality is exceptional and the jawlines of both Ryn and Raven are screaming to create more pronounced looks. The chins are less pointy which for me is a breath of fresh air. In short I am in love. Let it be known I am not affiliated or sponsored by Lelutka but I am a huge fan.

Anyway, fiddling around the other day with Raven and my new bought shape (by Steffi Ghost) I could not resist and took a picture. Then I could not resist to go black/white with it. The result my dear stalkers is what you see. For the die-hards, here’s the original, I only resized it. Once I was done with my black/white adjustments, the concrete was a bother so I erased it.

Since my arms are still a bother, another short scribble but I just had to pen this down. And so I did.

Of Sim Design – Part 1

Recently I have rented a 1/4 sim and am having a ton of fun in making it my home. My idea of home is usually not what most consider a home in SL, however this first draft is pretty run-off-the-mill.

Of course covering up the truly astounding horrendous ground textures is step one. Seriously, in what fantasy of the ideal home is poison green grass a good idea? And would it kill sim owners to actually learn to terraform so there are non-ragged parcel borders?

Anyway… I have decided to use my soapbox as an archive and post a few snaps of aforementioned home-build.

Just a few snaps nothing major. For posterity.

My favorite chair on the best spot!
Enchanted Naughty Cat
Scratching the carpets.. Funny detail: this is the first home I made for myself that is actually fully decorated. Ie, it has chairs/sofa’s and carpets and decor. Obviously a WIP, and I do not like overly cluttered decors most of the time.
Echanted Pier
The absolute best, imho that is, feature of this build: The pier.

Last and sort of least lol a full-colour non-moody shot of my whole kingdom. Including the pines from my neighbour.

Of Tidy and Messes

As per usual I was captivated by one single item out of a release that consists of nothing but treasure. This particular item jumped out at me and that was as they say that. This is the short version so if you are in a hurry, click HERE to see the full release from Nutmeg for this round of Shiny Shabby. All others, yes you, my beloved stalkers, buckle up:

What struck me first and foremost is the detail in the texture. I have a thing for metal textures. They are, I think, one of the hardest to get right.

I am sure builders/designers will happily argue this, but as a blacksmith, I had the opportunity to see a LOT of metal textures up close and personal, and make a bit of money by selling the original photographs I took of those metals to someone (who shall remain anonymous) in SL, who converted them to textures. This was quite some years ago, so I doubt those textures will have stood the test of time, since we are way, way past simple, tile them till you can tile no more, texturing.

So after I dragged my camera away from ultra zoom, away from my, by now beloved, mirror, I studied all the objects in this release. And I found so many more details. Details worth of their own spotlight. I realize I am one of few who actually gives a blue flying fuck about those details. But since you came this far, I ask you to hang on a bit longer and ride this one out.

SL’s sceneries are so rich and detailed not because people pack the tiniest amount of space chockablock full of stuff. It looks as it does because of the details in the items. And the more detailed an item is, the richer, and often more realistic, that item is. Not only that, but it also gives depth. In case of vintage/old style items, they are given a history by every single detail in the texture. Now you might think that this stay at home shite has gotten to me. No. I have always been a sucker for textures and when I am not agonizing over the next build or hunting skins, I study textures.

Vintage effects or effects that indicate wear and tear are far past the stage of a few scratches or some dirt. It has become an art in my not so humble opinion to give an object a vintage look. An art that Nutmeg is perfecting.

Here you see the detail I am talking about.

clock close up

Here is the complete object.

clock Nutmeg

So rich in detail. These are raw shots, only cropped. Just a FYI.

I could post many more, as I took a lot of pictures and even tried a collage of items but that didn’t quite work as I had imagined it and let’s be honest, nothing can stand up to you going over to Nutmeg Mainstore yourself and zoom in and take a wee bit of time to see all these fantastic details for yourself.

Apart from the top notch textures, this release is perfect regarding LOD and LI. If you wanted that clutter for your bathroom or washroom, this is your chance.

So my dearies, thank you for riding this one out with me and thank you for your time. Stay safe and sane and all that, until next time.

Of Dancing with the Dam

Dear Diary,

“The Dam” came to be when I came across a screenshot from a game and I knew I wanted to build it. Or try at least.

The challenge was to build it. Allow me to give you a quick glimpse of ‘how it was made’.

It did involve me building a completely dam, slanted walls and all, in prims. But as with many things, it just was not ‘it’. After blowing up build five hundred and sixty-seven,  and about to give up, the final version finally came to be. My favourite sport in SL, using items completely different from their intended use, saved me once more. The dam was born.

The next step was finding water for the top part. Again, a challenge and after many many misfires, I settled for Alex Bader’s river water. To be specific, the end section of his magnificent River Building Packs. I had to learn a few expensive and utterly disappointing lessons before I tried that particular water and I am still angry at myself for not just going ‘back to base’ and trying it as the first option. Lesson learned.

“Dancing with the Dam” as I now call it, was the next phase of this build. Moving the dam forward, backward, sideways, up, down for a week to place it just so.

In a perfect world, there would be a splendid, slanted, concrete wall all around the dam, but SL is not a perfect world and I am not a perfect builder,  so I used boulders and cliff covers. What sim build is complete without those cliff covers right?

More frustration followed when I tried to balance out the rest of the build and friends who still are with me, are officially saints.  I want to thank those who encouraged me to finish this build and who answered my, at times totally unhinged, questions about rocks, signs, trees, windlights, where to get what and how to do this or that, with seemingly never-ending patience. THANK YOU.

Anyway, Vinefields, The Dam, is exclusively open right now for two groups and I will see about opening her up for the public at large for a bit soon-ish. Forking over 6700 lindens per week to have a sim open, is a tad much on the old budget atm. I am considering a paid group and all that, but honestly, I have not yet settled on a course of action.

Now for shameless self-promotion: I do believe I have managed perhaps to bring something new, never done before to sim building. I say this based on feedback from people who actually know sim building in SL and I have to confess that if that is the case, this concept being new, that I am rather chuffed with that. I am not sure of it, but still, the sentiment is making me giddy.

Last but not least, another shot of the Dam, just because well, I think it’s pretty.

Dear diary, thank you for listening and see you soon. xox

Of Teasing and Such

As per usual I have epically failed in my attempt to show off the item this picture was supposed to be about. Vanity and post-processing frenzy took over once again and well the result you see above.

But… This time I do have a semi-excuse. Put yer stumpers up and settle in;

Seven Emporium has released these magnificent speakers, and a few other items, which are really not in the picture! As per usual, anything released by Agustkov is superbly textured and made. But you can’t see that in this shot… So why are you reading this?

Well, you are probably bored senseless for starters, a true stalker, or curious. Or all three? And be glad you did, because I have a bit of more drooling to do. I promise it won’t be about textures. No, my dearies, it is about something completely different.

This set comes packing a punch when it comes to…, drumroll goes here, poses. I hear you rolling your eyes, yes, I can hear that ok so stop doing it and listen up. Poses. Not just poses. Not crappy calibrated, set up, or whatever the proper technical term is, but bloody awesome, original poses that just are a delight to play with. And I did. Oh, I did.

The singles are awesome and don’t forget to hit the swap button or you will miss out. Then we come to the cuddles, 24 in all. TWENTY-FOUR!! If you happen to have bought the adult version, obviously this set comes in PG and adult, you get another 54 poses to play with. FIFTY-FOUR.

So yes, yours truly became completely distracted.

I promised I would not drone on about textures and all that and I won’t. However, do yourself a favor, hop on over to TMD to give these baby’s a thorough look over, and even try them out. Make sure you check out Agustkovs’ Flickr for all the details and the other items of this release.

I’m so excited about this release, and the poses that should you be in need of a ‘let’s-test-the-poses-partner’, I volunteer. Just hit me up in-world. Otherwise, toddle off and go drool over these speakers.

Of Sundays and Mornings

As per usual it was quite a challenge for me to make this picture. Make no mistake, nothing is more simple then to rez an object, shoot it, and post-process the photo to show the object of in the best possible way. Or no post-processing at all if you prefer that. One could argue that most of my post-processing is over the top, but I digress.

The challenge was not so much in shooting the best possible angle, light, etc to showcase the object but the real challenge was to capture the mood. This chair, the whole release from Nutmeg, Dreamy Pastels available at Shiny Shabby, brought to mind wide-open spaces, with natural colors, comfy chairs, and sofa’s and not unneeded clutter. Airy and light.

I love making darker pictures, both in color and in black&white. But sometimes I perse want to make a light picture and perhaps I should not be so stubborn. Perhaps I should stay in my lane and do what I am really good at, but you know what? Life gets extremely dull if we only do what we are really good at and I never was good at ‘staying in my lane’. I prefer to ignore the lanes, especially when it comes to creativity and trying to relay a mood, a vibe.

But have no fear, darker-toned pictures are coming soon enough my dear stalkers and 3.5 readers, just keep your eyes peeled. But with all the craziness going on in this world at this point in time, I figured air and light are not a bad thing. But once more I digress.

I also wanted to perse use the poses that come with the furniture. Textures and quality are a given from this designer and more often then not we pick our decor items for that reason alone. Looks. But… This wee baby packs a punch.

The pose you see in the picture is not edited nor adjusted. And I can tell you there are many more poses that are just as good. I can also tell you that the adult poses are absolutely spot on. On a personal note, I do so enjoy bento in poses and seeing a hand and fingers actually curl around certain bodyparts when and if warranted instead of seeing these static hands. And these poses have it all. So if you are considering new furniture, do yourself a favor and check out Nutmeg because most of their furniture is jampacked with great poses.

I am also wearing a dress, and true to form, you can hardly see it. However, it is a new Mainstore release from RKKN.

All items are, in my not so humble opinion, very much worth a test drive. Clickety click on the links and off you go. Well look at me, a proper blog post again, I should seriously work on that or I run the risk of becoming boring. Stay safe and sane.

Of Close-ups and Distance

While for some the stay-at-home period seems to bring along amazing creativity, I find myself struggling to even put a simple, healthy meal together, let alone being creative. It’s rather surprising as I am a hermit by choice and very much not a social butterfly.

Perhaps I am just a contrarian. Let’s stick with that. It has a nice ring to it.

Now onward to the task at hand, some ramblings about the picture:

I am in LOVE with the new Lelutka heads. Absolutely and unequivocally in love. What I love most is the option to mature your skin with the simple push of a button. And I use it with gusto. What also is a great thing is that the Axis hud still works. It has so many possibilities that for now I only have pursed my pretty little lips a bit.

So one more time; I LOVE the new Lelutka heads. There.

What I also love is BoM. I am sporting the basic Ana Skin from Clef de Peau, one of my favorite base skins to start a look with. Now, most of my looks are pretty much the same, I tweak a bit and pinch a bit there but in essence, my shapes stay the same. But BoM allows us to add so many details. Here I am only wearing 6 layers, base skin, eyebrows, tattoo, red circles, eyebags and as the piece de resistance the scar in the mouth corner.

It is of course from TF, Bordello.  Tristan has treated the grid with stunning art and more recent nifty little add ons for body and face. And it is those details in my opinion that make a face interesting. Personally, I am partial to this little gem because I find it utterly intriguing.

I will keep this short because storms are moving in, and more urgent my shoulders are still not up to par. They are, for all you 3,5 readers, better but only because I rest them.

For me, it’s back to resting, stay safe, sane and healthy.

Of Ramshackle-ness’

One of the reasons I have not been rambling is because instead of having a nifty, handy-dandy ‘write’ button on the top of my screen, WordPress decided to hide it and now I have to traverse half the internet to find it.

The other reason is, my bursitis is back in full swing and with a vengeance. Both my shoulders are in full protest of any movement and guess what? You HAVE to keep moving them. Long story, won’t bother you with the details but trust me when I say it’s painful and tiresome. (try wiping your butt with two defective shoulders, I know TMI but sod it).

Then, of course, there is this thingie-ma-poo, the Bat-Shit-Crazy-Flu as I like to call it, and it is the personification of the ‘monster under the bed’ when I was a little girl. It is scary as can be.  Luckily, I have time in abundance to worry, because typing and even pointing and clicking with a mouse is only possible in very short bursts.

Anywayyyy, today I figured I would take a picture and a ramble a bit. Not perse about what you see in the pic, I have to guard my reputation as a bad blogger after all but more some musings. A healthy dose of Spinach so to speak.

So, how are you all? Safe and healthy I hope? Armed with enough supplies to occupy and distract your mind,  soothe your soul and general well-being.? Please do take care of yourselves and your loved ones and do not forget that lonely neighbor next door or across the street. A wave, a smile, simply recognizing another human being can go a long, long way.

Also, don’t forget to don your homemade hazmat gear when and if you need to go out. My outfit is truly ridiculous. In the absence of well, everything I suppose, I am using my cleaning gloves, you know those big fat rubber ones? Well, mine are bright purple. They go amazingly well with my safety goggles (orange bits and pieces on those) and scarf (lime green) that I tie around the lower part of my face. The gents and ladies at my friendly neighborhood Walmart almost piss themselves laughing when I get in and my husband stays in the car. Oh well. At least I make people laugh.

Shopping is now a dress-up party and exercise in agility.

As always this picture has a story. I started out in dressing up as a latex-fetish-robotic-augmented-freak and ended up with what you see. As always pose and light set the mood for me and while I do love my ‘freaks’, I also love the more down to earth shots. And let’s be honest, down to earth is good right now.

Since my shoulders now really feel as if they are being stabbed with red hot pokers it is time to call it a night. A quick shopping list:

Hair – .Shi // Top – Erratic// Pants – RKKN // Ink – Vegas Tattoo // Pubes – TF // Pose – Del May  (deleted <<– name of pose).

Of Cyber and Such

Some of you, out of all you 3.5 readers, probably think I have gone off the deep end with the style of pictures I post lately. Perhaps you are right. As always, like and don’t like, are in the eye of the beholder.

It took me over 6 hours to bring this whole show to completion, from gobbling together the look to posting the picture and the ramblings. Why 6 hours you might ask? Allow me to enlighten you: I have a f*&cking puppy who loves to chew on everything. If we let him do his thing, he might end up eating the whole apartment. But today His Royal Pestiness decided on a shoe, a cap and for dessert, a few inches of the doorpost.

Of course, then the smoke alarm decided to start screaming because the battery needed replacing. Why can’t they have, with all the technology these days, make an app for that? Or a gentle voice saying ‘It is time to replace the batteries’, instead of the same bloody noise as if the joint is on fire. I truly dislike that sound and my other dog, the poor soul, positively fears it and promptly peed all over the house. She is a good girl usually and this was stress/fear pure. So yeah.. six hours from start to finish. Oh and this little thing called dinner. That was in there somewhere too. I think.

So here I was, trying to build this look because there have been such awesome releases when it comes to CyberPunk, Scifi, Steampunk, etc, and they are all gathering dust in my inventory.  Often these endeavors end up in the bin but I liked this one so it escaped being trashed and instead is now saved for posterity.

It took another visit to Fair Around the World to pick up the Cyber Geisha makeup from LuLuB!. As per usual it’s barely visible in this picture so click here to go to the creators Flickr for a much better view.

Other odds and ends are from Azoury (Robotic Brain), Seven Prodigy (tattoo), [Contraption] (arms) and Ghoul (arms) and Cubic Cherry (ears). The backdrop is from Paleto and thoroughly abused and ripped apart by yours truly.

See, I am a good blogger I ramble of lists. I am also tired as can be, so if this all doesn’t make sense, chalk it up to that. With that said, goodnight and please stay safe and healthy!
